Dr. Cheng Yu, Professor, is a faculty member of the Construction Engineering Technology program in the Department of Engineering Technology at the University of North Texas. Dr. Yu' research interests include structural behaviors of light framed steel buildings subjected to multi-hazards, structural design of cold-formed steel structures, earthquake engineering and structural control, innovative construction materials and structures, and Building Information Modeling. He has secured over $3M research grants and $2.2M in his allocation. Dr. Yu published over 40 referred journal papers, 50 conference proceedings, and a number of technical reports for industrial sponsors. Some of his research results led to new provisions in the North American specifications and standards of cold-formed steel structures. Dr. Yu serves on several technical committees in American Society of Civil Engineers, American Iron and Steel Institute, and Structural Stability Research Council. Dr. Yu was a recipient of 2010 Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation.
